Dynamic PSET support for connected equipment

In FactoryLogix, all controllers are licensed for the Desoutter Protocol allowing the same library of PSETs to be loaded to every controller. The process designer simply needs to call out the PSET that has the required sequence of steps, where each step in turn has the right Step Type and Tightening Strategy Type, then use dynamic instructions to configure each step within that PSET prior to using the PSET for the required tightening.

The Desoutter Protocol supports dynamic modification of parameters for one or more steps (phases) within a registered PSET. However, the protocol does not support the following actions:

  • Adding or removing steps from a registered PSET.

  • Changing the step type.

  • Changing the tightening strategy for a step.

Important

  • On CVIxII controllers, only PSETs containing six or fewer steps can be modified dynamically.

  • Not all controllers that support Open Protocol also support the Desoutter Protocol. Controllers that support the protocol require a valid license installed on the controller before MID messages defined by the Desoutter Protocol can be recognized.

In FactoryLogix Connected Equipment, the connection profile for open protocol-connected equipment includes a Supports Dynamic PSETs option.

When you enable the Supports Dynamic PSETS option for a selected torque driver in the Manage Connection Profile dialog (Open Protocol Torque Driver), the following occurs:

  • MID7414 is added to the list of supported MID messages for the Connection Profile.

  • MID7414 Revisions 1 and 2 are supported.

  • Revision 1 is selected by default.

After setting up your open protocol torque driver in the Connected equipment area of FactoryLogix Office, you can set up one or more Open Protocol Torque Driver activities for your process definition in FactoryLogix Office in the Process Definition window. See Create activities for steps for more information about setting up activities in a process definition.

Dynamic PSET selected and MID7414 is added to the list of supported MID messages for the Connection Profile
