Create activities for steps

Each operation you create in a process flow/process definition can have multiple steps and each step can have one or more activities associated with it. An Operator Interface Template specifies the user environment in which the steps and activities will be displayed on the shop floor in Production. See Operator Interface templates for details.

Note

In FactoryLogix, steps are also referred to as work instructions.

Activities in FactoryLogix specify the actual instructions presented to shop floor personnel in Production as well as define any data collection to be associated with the assembly.

  • Activities can be as simple as a basic text-based instruction to an operator or more complex data collection tasks with several levels of completion acknowledgement or supervisory approval in support of CFR Part 11 signoff requirements. Virtually any type of document can be associated to each step or activity to further guide production personnel in the build process.

  • Activity sequencing can be defined in a strict manner where each activity must be competed in order or configured to allow operators to complete them in any order. Activity tracking options allow historical recall of the operator responsible for performing each action. With this degree of power and flexibility, FactoryLogix is capable of controlling and tracking literally any type of manufacturing process.

  • An Activity Navigator displays the Activities in sequence on the shop floor. Once an activity is selected in the Navigator, the activity is displayed in the Activities gadget and any associated documents will display in the Document Viewer gadget.
